Why garlic works as a natural antibiotic

With over 17 amino acids, at least 33 sulphur compounds, eight minerals, and vitamins A, B, and C, garlic is one of nature’s superfoods. But it also has another secret weapon we don’t always benefit from. 

That pungent smell of cut or crushed garlic? It’s a chemical reaction. When garlic cells are damaged, alliinase (an enzyme) and alliin (an amino acid) come into contact to create a volatile sulphur compound called allicin.
