Is Skin Salvation vegan-friendly?
No. Skin Salvation contains locally sourced beeswax, so it is not suitable for vegans. It does not contain any other animal-derived ingredients, such as dairy, shellfish or lanolin.
Is Skin Salvation safe for babies and children?
Yes. Skin Salvation is paediatrician-approved and suitable for all ages, including babies over six weeks old. It can be used anywhere on the face and body, including the nappy area. Avoid using it on areas of skin that may be infected, and speak to a healthcare professional if you are concerned about your child's skin.
Can I use Skin Salvation on my face and around my eyes?
Yes. You can apply it carefully anywhere on the face, including around dry or itchy eyes, on lips and noses, and behind the ears.
Should I patch test before using Skin Salvation?
Yes. As with any new skincare product, apply a tiny amount behind the ear or in the crook of your elbow for 24–48 hours before widespread use. Do not use it if you are sensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients.
How often should I apply Skin Salvation?
As often and as generously as your skin needs. During a flare or if your skin is very dry, you can reapply hourly until it feels comfortable. You can also apply a thick layer before bed, or under cotton gloves, socks or soft wraps overnight for extra hydration.
Can I use Skin Salvation alongside my prescribed creams or emollients?
Yes. Leave around half an hour after applying Skin Salvation before using other products. If you are unsure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Is Skin Salvation safe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding?
Yes. Skin can be more sensitive during pregnancy, so we recommend a patch test before first use.
Does Skin Salvation contain fragrance or essential oils?
No. It contains no added fragrance, synthetic or natural, and no essential oils. You may notice a gentle honeyed scent from the beeswax and a grassier note from the hemp seed and olive oils.
Why does the balm feel firm or soft?
Skin Salvation is made with natural beeswax, so its texture changes with temperature. In colder weather it can feel firm, so warm a small amount between clean fingers before applying. In warm weather it can feel softer and oilier, and you may prefer to store it in the fridge.
Why does the scent or colour vary slightly between batches?
Because it is made from natural ingredients, including beeswax from British bees, slight variations in scent and colour are normal. The formulation has not changed, and quality and efficacy are not affected.
How long will a 50ml tin last?
For small patches of dry or eczema-prone skin, such as elbow creases, behind the knees or around the mouth, a 50ml tin can last several months. Skin Salvation contains no added preservatives, so use it within 6 months of opening.
Does Skin Salvation contain SPF?
No. As it is an oil-based balm, avoid applying it to exposed areas such as the face or lips before going out in strong sunlight. Apply it last thing at night instead, or use an effective sunscreen over the top.
Will Skin Salvation stain fabrics?
The oils in the balm can stain fabric over time, so we suggest wearing old pyjamas or using old bedding when applying it overnight.

Instructions on how to use Balmonds Skin Salvation
Use freshly washed fingers or a clean spoon or spatula to scoop out the balm, and apply to clean skin. Smooth a fine layer over the area, in one direction if the skin is inflamed. Apply as often and as generously as needed throughout the day.
For intensive overnight care, apply a thick layer before bed, or under soft cotton gloves, socks or wraps.
If your skin reacts, stop using the product and seek advice from your doctor.
Do not use if you are sensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients. Patch test before first use. Not recommended for newborns or babies under six weeks old.
